The City of Hoboken hosts a variety of summer events for all ages. One of the most popular is Movies Under the Stars—a long-running tradition held on Wednesday nights in June, July, and August. Screenings take place at Pier A Park and Northwest Resiliency Park, where residents gather to enjoy films under the open sky. Our team supported the Resiliency Park site.

The City wanted to improve efficiency for its outdoor movie nights. The existing setup involved bulky equipment and was labor-intensive, making it time-consuming to prepare each event. CSAV Systems was tasked with providing a custom-designed, high-performance audiovisual solution that streamlined setup, reduced labor, and maintained an excellent viewing and listening experience for audiences of all ages.
The installation site also posed challenges, including no lift access and atypical construction for mounting a projection screen.
CSAV Systems provided a large, weather-resistant motorized projection screen measuring over 300 inches, paired with a 14,000-lumen projector for bright, vivid visuals in large outdoor settings.
Custom Sound System
A custom-tuned sound system was designed to deliver clear, balanced audio across the audience area while minimizing spillover into nearby residential spaces. Attendance often reaches several hundred people, making intelligible sound a priority.
The system setup time was reduced to less than 30 minutes, allowing event volunteers to run it with confidence, and is fully portable for flexible use. A wireless microphone supports announcements and introductions, while an assisted listening system gives attendees the option to use provided headsets or access audio via a mobile app.

Setup and breakdown are now significantly faster, making events easier to manage and more enjoyable for both staff and attendees. With high-quality visuals, clear sound, and inclusive listening options, Hoboken’s outdoor movie nights remain a highlight of the summer season.
